Dimitrios H. Roukos, MD, PhD is the founding director of Centre for Biosystems and Genome Network Medicine in the Ioannina University, School of Medicine. Assessing the current and future unmet needs of traditional clinical research and single-gene linear transcription-based targeted therapy, he has moved to clinical cancer genome sequencing, regulatory molecular networks and nonlinear transcription. Comprehensive intrapatient landscapes of genomic alterations represent his current research focus. Mr. Venkateswara Rao currently employed by Carbon Continuumis and a self-made entrepreneur he has got his MSc in Nanoscience and Functional Nanomaterials from Bristol Centre for Functional Nanomaterials, University of Bristol. He also obtained integrated master’s degree in Bioengineering and Medical Nanotechnology from SASTRA University, India in 2012. He worked on innovative cost effective methods for multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) synthesis during his undergraduate and later went onto co-found a company “Carbon Continuum” that tackles industrial carbon emissions and waste from MWCNT production. Venki has also worked on various other projects such the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles and their anti-bacterial activity, Arterial pulse detection using PVDF sensor and prediction of diseases using Siddha based Ayurvedic method during his integrated degree. During his MSc at Bristol he worked on the “Enhanced exciton transport by optical modes supported by molecular nanostructures” BCFN theta project in the Tom Oliver group. He worked on “Process Optimization in Microwave & DC – Plasma assisted CVD reactors for high quality diamond thin film growth” for his MSc. thesis. He is interested in pursuing his studies further through PhD in the area of nanomaterials for energy conversion. He likes to play cricket and badminton in his spare time.

Hao-Han Pang has his master degree in Institute of Biomedical Sciences, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan, 2017. He is now a Ph.D student in National Sun Yat-sen University. His research interests are virus-like particles applications, RNA interference scaffold design and delivery platform development. The goal of his researches is to develop different applications of virus-like particles such as designed RNA packaging and drug delivery system for cancer therapy

Thomas Prevenslik developed a theory of QED based on QM. By this theory, heat absorbed by NPs is deposited almost entirely in their surfaces because of high surface-to-volume ratios. NP atoms are therefore placed under high EM confinement over nano-scale wavelengths that by the Planck law of QM precludes the atoms from having the heat capacity to conserve heat by changes in temperature. Instead, EM confinement converts the surface heat into standing EM radiation inside the NPs; any NP quantum states having lower transition frequencies than the standing EM radiation frequency are indirectly excited with emission to the surroundings. In the instant topic of nanotoxicology, the emission of standing EM adiation at UV levels damages nearby DNA and by scrambling genes establishes the causal link to diverse human health problems.

Shaker A Mousa finished his PhD from Ohio State University, College of Medicine, Columbus, OH and Post-doctoral Fellowship, University of Kentucky, Lexington KY. He also received his MBA from Widener University, Chester, PA. He is currently an endowed tenure Professor and Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute and Vice Provost for Research at ACPHS. Prior to his academic career, he was a senior Scientist and fellow at The DuPont Pharmaceutical Company for 17 years, where he contributed to the discovery and development of several FDA approved and globally marketed diagnostics and therapeutics. He holds over 350 US and International Patents discovering novel anti-angiogenesis strategies, antithrombotics, anti-integrins, anti-cancer, and non-invasive diagnostic imaging approaches employing various nanotechnology platforms. His has published more than 1,000 journal articles, book chapters, published patents, and books as editor and author. He is a member of several NIH study sections, and the Editorial Board Member of several high impact Journals. His research has focused on diagnostics and therapeutics of angiogenesis-related disorders, thrombosis, vascular and cardiovascular diseases.

Dr. Mousa's current research interests include:Adhesion molecules in health and diseases,Novel therapeutic and diagnostic targets,Treatment and prevention of ischemic and coronary artery diseases,Angiogenesis modulation, vascular and tissue remodeling, and novel anti-platelet, anti-thrombotic and anti-ischemic therapies. Dr. Mousa received a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University, completed postdoctoral research in Cardiovascular Pharmacology at the University of Kentucky and earned his MBA from Widener University. A native of Alexandria, Egypt, he received his B.Pharm. and M.Sc. degrees from Alexandria University. He was elected a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (FACB), and is a member of several national and international societies. He was recently awarded grants through the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Institute of Health.

Dr. Hussein Ammar, Holder of the First Class Golden Medal for Sciences and Arts and the recipient of the 2010 Appreciation State Prize in the realm of Advanced Technological Sciences. Professor Ammar is currently the Chairman, Pharmaceutical Technology Department, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industries, Future University in Egypt; formerly, Dean of the Pharmacy Division, National Research Centre, Cairo, Egypt. He has 123 research papers published in international scientific journals. These research papers cover most of the areas related to pharmaceutics, bio pharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics. Design of new drug delivery systems is not beyond the scope of his interest.

Haruo Sugi graduated from post-graduated school in the University of Tokyo with the degree of PhD in 1962, and was appointed to be an Instructor in Physiology, in the University of Tokyo Medical School. From 1965 to 1967, he worked at Columbia University as research associate, and at the National Instututes of Health as a visiting scientist. Sugi was Professor and Chairman in Teikyo University Medical School from 1973 to 2004 when he became Emeritus Professor. He was Chairman of Muscle Commission in the International Union of Physiological Sciences from 1998 to 2008 (IUPS). He organized Symposia on molecular mechanism of muscle contraction six times, each followed by Proceeding published from University of Tokyo Press, Plenum, Kluwer and Springer and regarded as milestones of progress in this area of research work.

Minoru Taya is currently Director, Center for Intelligent Materials and Systems, and also Nabtesco Endowed Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering in University of Washington. Dr. Taya involved in supervising a number of projects related to multifunctional materials and composites with emphasis on sensing and active materials, and compact actuators Most recently, we is working on (i) FePd nanohelix based nanorobotics under NSF-NRI program where the FePd nanohelix can shrink and expand upon switching on and off magnetic field and (ii) soft-matter based robotic hand technology using dielectric elastomer. Dr Kar Seng (Vincent) Teng is an Associate Professor and leads the Nanoelectronics Research Group in the College of Engineering at Swansea University in the United Kingdom. He received his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Swansea University, and has extensive research experiences in the study of nanoscale electronic materials and devices. This involves the application of nanotechnology in electronics, which has major impact in healthcare, computer, photonic and energy technologies. He has the expertise in the fabrication and characterisation of nanoscale electronic materials and devices, as well as controlling their properties through surface engineering for novel applications. His funded research includes the investigation of low-dimensional electronic materials, such as graphene, metal-oxide and nitride nanostructures etc., in the development of ultra-sensitive nano-biosensors for the early detection of diseases, short-wavelength lasers for ultra-high density data storage, nano-plasmonics for photovoltaic technology and fabrication of nanoelectronic devices using printing technology etc. He is also a Journal Editor for Fluorescent Materials.

Dr Teng leads the Nanoelectronics Research Group within the Multidisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre at the College of Engineering. His research interest is in the study of nanoscale electronic materials and devices. Dr. Mary Mehrnoosh Eshaghian-Wilner is an interdisciplinary scientist and patent attorney with over 26 years of research experience. She has published hundreds of scientific articles, including three books, and has handled the prosecution and infringement analysis of many complex U.S. and international patents. Dr. Eshaghian-Wilner currently is a Professor of Engineering Practice at the Electrical Engineering-Systems Department in the University of Southern California (USC). Professor Eshaghian-Wilner has founded and/or chaired numerous IEEE conferences and organizations, including the IEEE Women in Engineering affinity division of the Coastal Los Angeles Section. His postdoctoral research included spectroscopy and microscopy of single-molecules and nanoparticles. Following this, he was invited to National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan, in 2004 as a tenure track scientist, becoming a tenured scientist in 2008 and a chief scientist in 2009. He is also taking (2007) a Visiting Scientist position at Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the University of Texas at Austin, and a Visiting Professor position (2007~) at center for arthropod bioresources and biotechnology, Kerala University. His current research interests include development of nanoparticles and bioconjugated nanoparticles, and exploitation the optical properties of nanobioconjugates towards unraveling of biophysical functions and structures of biomolecules in cells. Prof. Prosperi’s main research interests regard application of nanotechnological and biotechnological tools in the field of human and animal diseases. In particular, he has developed a number of innovative approaches for biofunctionalization of colloidal and biomimetic nanoparticles, and has acquired excellent skills in different fields of molecular and cellular biology. A part from good experience in colloidal nanostructures, such as gold, silver and magnetic nanoparticles, he has been successfully working with recombinant proteins for targeting of different membrane proteins involved in fundamental cellular regulation mechanisms. Moreover, Prof. Prosperi is interested in study of mechanisms regulating tumor development and metastases as well as angiogenesis phenomena as a result of chemotherapeutic treatments in vivo. In this context, he has developed an innovative technology based on targeted delivery of nanovectors for preventing tumor development and differentiation, along with overcoming multidrug resistance in tumor cells. In collaboration with Prof. Granucci at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Prof. Prosperi has established a new research field focused on application of nanotechnology in immunology, in particular, study of inflammatory processes regulation by “Nuclear Factor of Activated T-cells” (NFAT) in innate and adaptive immune cells with the aim to evaluate their involvement in inflammatory disorders, such as transplant rejection, rheumatoid arthritis, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, as well as neurodegenerative diseases as Alzheimer e Parkinson. Prof. Prosperi’s Lab contains 4 units: 1) Nanoparticle Synthesis unit, where development and synthesis of different colloidal, polymeric and biomimetic nanoparticles is carried out by well-known “wet chemistry” and genetic engineering techniques; 2) Targeting ligands unit, where recombinant proteins derived from antibodies and fusion proteins are developed for further conjugation to nanoparticles 3) Cell biology unit, working with a wide range of cell lines (cancerous and non-cancerous, BBB models) and, finally, 4) In vivo animal studies unit working with murine models of different tumors (breast, brain) and inflammatory diseases. Laboratory is fully equipped with modern instrumentation for nanoparticle synthesis and application.

I am Balamurugan, working as an Associate Professor at the Diabetes Institute of University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. I direct the Clinical Islet cGMP facility and Islet Core and we isolate human and animal islets for basic islet biology and clinical islet cell transplantation. I am an “Islet Biologist” conducting research towards the treatment of diabetes especially pancreatic islet cell isolation, study of functional behavior of islets and transplantation since 1993. I am directing the Islet Processing Core which processes about 200 islet isolations including human (deceased donor pancreases and pancreases from patients undergoing total or completion pancreatectomy followed by islet auto-transplantation), porcine (adult and young pig donor pancreases), and non-human primate pancreases each year for the University of Minnesota Islet Transplant Program. He has over 21 years experience in diabetes research, especially pancreatic Islet Cell Biology and has performedislet isolation from more than 1000 human pancreases,1000 pig pancreases and 300 monkey pancreases.

In 2015 we installed two "nanoETCH"​ systems in the National Graphene Institute, Manchester. Also we installed a hybrid nanoETCH / anneal system in a Braun glovebox line for Dr Roman Gorbachev. The nanoETCH was developed with the Manchester University Graphene Group. Designed to enhance 2D material transfer, soft etch for 2D device fabrication - it works in a totally different mode to standard etch systems. We launched our new bench top NanoPVD sputter system for metal and oxide deposition late 2014. We are now geared up for production in our new factory unit in Knutsford, Cheshire. We moved in early May. The facility boasts first floor offices with conference facilities, ground floor production and demonstration laboratory (with a multi-camera Skype set up for web demo's), clean assembly facilities and enough test bays for sales expansion over the next 5 years. Moorfield launched a CVD graphene growth system in 2013. Called the nanoCVD-8G it is designed for research groups looking to grow high quality graphene for electronics applications. It allows the researcher to experiment with different receipes and tweek parameters to increase / decrease domaine size, uniformity etc. Its a cold wall system with three gas inlets, low themal mass heater ( very quick response), high stability pressure control and fast cycle time ( 25 minutes - sample in to sample out). The touch screen control, ease of use and low foot print have been very well received in the market place. Systems have been shipped, installed and when optimised are producing material equivalent to high end exfoliated graphene. Papers are now out.

Dr. Bharat Bhushan is an Ohio Eminent Scholar and the Howard D. Winbigler Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Dr. Bhushan came to OSU in 1991 after a 15-year career in industry, working primarily for IBM Almaden Research Center. A professor with diverse interests, Dr. Bhushan’s works in biomimetic interface science, surface engineering, nanotribology, and materials research. His research has focused on scanning probe techniques in the interdisciplinary areas of bio/nanotribology, bio/nanomechanics and bio/nanomaterials characterization and applications to bio/nanotechnology, and biomimetics. Dr. Bhushan spent the 2013-2014 year working as an ASME Science Fellow in Congress. His work there focused on policy and funding of various scientific government agencies, setting science and engineering goals for the country, and STEM education. Dr. Bhushan is a prolific author (h-index – 76+; ISI Highly Cited Researcher in Materials Science since 2007 and in Biology and Biochemistry since 2013; ISI Top 5% Cited Authors for Journals in Chemistry since 2011), influencing many different fields. He has authored 8 scientific books, 90+ handbook chapters, nearly 900 scientific papers, and 60+ scientific reports. RESEARCH INTERESTS Fundamental studies in the interdisciplinary areas of bio/nanotribology/nanomechanics and nanomaterials characterization in bio/nanotechnology and biomimetics with a focus on scanning probe techniques.

Dr. Fenniri was educated at the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, receiving his undergraduate degree in chemistry and biochemistry (1989, top of his class), and his M.Sc./Ph.D. degrees in supramolecular science and engineering (1990/1994) under the supervision of Professor Jean-Marie Lehn (Nobel Laureate). He then joined the Scripps Research Institute in California, USA, where he carried out his postdoctoral training under the supervision of Professor Richard A. Lerner (President and CEO). In 1997 he moved to Purdue University, where he initiated his independent academic career, and established the Purdue Laboratory for Chemical Nanotechnology (1999). In 2003, He joined the National Research Council and the University of Alberta to build and lead the Supramolecular Nanoscale Assembly program, and contribute to the shaping of the National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT), its research programs and facilities, and the recruitment of highly qualified personnel. NINT has since grown from 4 principal investigators in 2003 to a vibrant research and technology organization of over 350 researchers in 2013. In addition, Dr. Fenniri held a full professor position with the Department of Chemistry (since 2003-2013) and adjunct full professor positions with the department of biomedical engineering (since 2010) with the faculty of medicine, and with the department if Chemistry (since 2013) at the University of Alberta. Dr. Fenniri is currently Professor Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA. Dr. Fenniri has achieved international recognition as a leader in the areas of self-assembly, supramolecular chemistry, nanomedicine, combinatorial chemistry, and materials sciences. His group works at the forefront of basic and applied nanosciences, in collaboration with various academic institutions, federal laboratories, and with the private sector. Dr. Fenniri’s contributions appeared in over 190 publications, 8 patents, and over 400 contributed national and international conference papers. Dr. Fenniri has also presented his work in over 150 invited distinguished lectures, colloquia and seminars around the globe. His research programs are supported by the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Alberta Advanced Education and Technology, the US National Institutes of Health, the National Research Council of Canada, the University of Alberta, and several private, provincial and federal funding organizations. Dr. Rupinder K Kanwar completed her PhD from PGIMER, India. Since then she has worked in India, New Zealand and Australia, in a variety of positions supporting and building new research programs related to interdisciplinary research, international collaborations and large-scale initiatives ranging from biomedicine to nanomedicine. She has 15 years’ experience in drug discovery targeting cancer and chronic inflammation, and delivered both academic and industry-oriented research with 75 peer reviewed publications. Dr Kanwar is a key inventor in more than 20 published and live patents/ applications. Her current research focuses on targeting molecular pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer with nanodrug and nanodiagnostic developments. At Deakin University, she is providing leadership to her research team on deciphering novel molecular targets for protein biodrugs to treat cancer and cardiomyopathy. Dr RK Kanwar has expertise in applying cutting edge techniques of immunology, cell biology, molecular biology to study the pathophysiology and therapeutic targets of human cancer and chronic inflammatory diseases (atherosclerosis, asthma and multiple sclerosis) in both in vivo and in vitro models. Dr Kanwar also has skills in delivering industry oriented research and is a key inventor on number of recent patent applications on devising treatments for chronic inflammatory diseases. Behzad Shahmoradi was born in Sanandaj City, Kurdistan, west of Iran in 1976. He completed his B.E. in Environmental Health Engineering from Urmia University of Medical Sciences in 2000. After four year experience as environmental health inspector, he joint University of Mysore, India for M.Sc. in Environmental Science. In 2010, he awarded PhD from University of Mysore, India under supervision of Prof. K.Byrappa. Later, as Assist. Professor, he joint Environmental Health Research Center, Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, Sanandaj, Iran. From 1978 to 1994, he worked in various scientific and managerial positions at McDonnell Douglas Research Laboratories in St. Louis. Prof. (Emeritus) Aharon Gedanken, of the Department of Chemistry, is a member of the Nano Materials Center at the Institute of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials (BINA), and a recipient of the President of Israel Achievement Award for coordination of a European Funded Research. Gedanken is a pioneer of sonochemistry – a discipline in which chemical reactions are accelerated through the application of ultrasonic sound waves. Gedanken is an expert in the fabrication of nanostructures with special properties such as antibacterial, antiviral (i.e. Swine influenza), antifungal and antibiofilm. Among his discoveries is the fact that ultrasound radiation can coat a large variety of solid surfaces such as metals, ceramics, polymers, glass, textiles, and even paper, enabling him to impart a variety of properties to the solid. Gedanken uses sonochemistry to produce micro and nano-vehicles that deliver antibiotics and anti-cancer drugs in a rapid-release mode. Dr. Mary Mehrnoosh Eshaghian-Wilner has over 26 years of research experience in various areas within the field of Computer Engineering. Additionally, she has worked in the area of patent law for several years. She has published numerous scientific papers, including two books, and has handled the prosecution and infringement analysis of many complex U.S. and international patents. She is currently a Professor of Engineering Practice at the Electrical Engineering-Systems Department at the University of Southern California (USC), and since 2004 has been an Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to joining UCLA, she was a tenured full Professor and Department Head at the Computer Engineering Department of Rochester Institute of Technology. Her most recent area of research is in Technology Law. She is investigating how various forms of emerging technologies may be impacted by, and come into conflict with, U.S. and international policies and laws. Pervasive (heterogeneous/ubiquitous) computing and nanotechnology are two emerging technologies in which she an extensive scientific background. She has founded and/or chaired numerous IEEE conferences and organizations, including the IEEE Women in Engineering affinity division of the Coastal Los Angeles Section. In 2010, he awarded PhD from University of Mysore, India under supervision of Prof. K.Byrappa. Later, as Assist. Professor, he joint Environmental Health Research Center, Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, Sanandaj, Iran. Dr. James Liang is a Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology. Previously, Dr. Liang served as professor at Tsinghua University (Beijing) and Associate Research Professor at University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). In 2007-08, he was detailed as a William C. Foster fellow to the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation at the US Department of State working with the Office of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism and Foreign Consequence Management program. He also served (2009-13) as Franklin Fellow and strategic S&T advisor in the office of Verification and Transparency Technologies/Arms Verification and Control in the Bureau of Arms Control Verification and Compliance, Office of Verification and Transparency Technologies at the US Department of State. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, Institute of Nanotechnology, and New York Academy of Sciences. He was awarded Gold medal by the Armenian National Polytechnic University (formerly State Engineering University of Armenia) for his contribution to Nanotechnology. In addition, he has earned several other fellowships and awards for his meritorious service including 2004/2005 Distinguished Artist and Scholar award. Anand Gadre graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics from the University of Mumbai (India) in 1994. In 2001 Anand joined University of Maryland (USA) as a Postdoctoral Research Associate to pursue research in the areas of Micro and Nanotechnology. In 2002 Anand worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Georgetown University at Washington DC and later worked as a Managing Scientist in Georgetown’s Nanoscience and Microtechnology laboratory (GNuLab). In 2004 Anand was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Nanobioscience at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in the State University of New York at Albany and later was promoted as an Associate Professor of Nanobioscience with tenure. While working at CNSE, Anand also achieved his Master in Business Management (MBA) degree from the State University of New York at Albany. In March 2011 Anand joined as the Director of the Stem Cell Instrumentation and Nanofabrication Foundry at the University of California, Merced, where he is currently administering core research facilities and pursuing his research in the areas of Nanobiotechnology. He has worked at the WPI Advanced Institute for Materials Research, Japan, as an Assistant Professor. He received his Ph.D. in Biomaterials from the University of Madras. Dr. Dongsheng Mao is currently the Vice President of Engineering for Applied Nanotech, Inc. and is highly experienced in nano-enabled product R&D and commercialization. He is also the Director of the Nanocomposite and Printed Electronics Divison at the company. He has successfully managed a number of R&D projects. Hari Shanker Sharma, Director of Research (International Experimental Central Nervous System Injury & Repair, IECNSIR), University Hospital, Uppsala University is Professor of Neurobiology (MRC), Docent in Neuroanatomy (UU) and is currently affiliated with Department of Surgical Sciences, Division of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Uppsala University, Sweden. Hari Sharma obtained Doctoral Degree in Neurosciences from Banaras Hindu University in May 1982 on “Blood-Brain Barrier in Stress.” Dr. Sharma received German Govt. Prestigious Fellowship Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (1989-1991) to work on hyperthermia induced BBB dysfunction at the ultrastructural level with Professor Jorge Cervós-Navarro (a living “Legend in Neuropathology in Europe”) in Free University Berlin. On his work on hyperthermia Dr. Sharma received the prestigious Neuroanatomy award “Rönnows Research prize” of Uppsala University for “best neuroanatomical research of the year 1996” followed by the Award of the Degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences (Dr Med Sci) of Uppsala University in Neuroanatomy in 1999 and selected for the Best Thesis Award of the Medical faculty, “The Hwassers Prize” of 1999. Dr S. Joseph Antony is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Particle Science and Engineering, School of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Leeds, U.K. He started his research career as an experimentalist in the area of photonic stress analysis and strength measurement of continuum bodies. However, over the past twenty years, his research focus is on the nano and micro mechanical modelling of particles and their assemblies with particular emphasis on developing structure-property relations. Masayoshi Tonouchi received the B.S. and M.S. and Dr. E. degrees form Osaka University, Japan, in 1983, 1985 and 1988, respectively. From 1988 to 1989 he worked at the Faculty of Engineering Science of the same university. From 1989 to 1994 he joined the Faculty of Computer Science and System Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. In 1994, he moved to Kansai Advanced Research Center, Communications Research Laboratory, Japan. From 1996 to 2000, he was an associate professor at the Research Center for Superconducting Materials and Electronics, Osaka University. Currently he is a professor in Institute of Laser Engineering, Osaka University and a concurrent professor of Nanjing University. His current research interests include ultrafast optical and terahertz science of strongly correlated electron systems and nanomaterials, and development-and-applications of terahertz systems such as the laser terahertz emission microscope, compact THz time-domain spectroscopy systems, and others. He is a member of the Optical Society of America, Materials Research Society, the Japan Society of Applied Physics, the Physical Society of Japan, and the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers. Professor Somasundaran received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley and his Bachelor of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in 1961. Before joining Columbia University, he worked for the International Minerals and Chemical Corporation and Reynolds Industries. He was appointed the first La von Duddleson Krumb Professor in the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the first Director of the Langmuir Center for Colloids & Interfaces and founding director of the National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Center for Advanced Studies in Novel Surfactants. He was also elected Chairman of the Henry Krumb School at Columbia University, as Chair of Dept. of Chemical Engineering, Material Science & Mineral Engineering in 1992 and 1995. He was inducted in l985 into the National Academy of Engineering, among the highest professional distinction that can be conferred to an engineer and later to the Chinese, Indian and Russian National Academies. He is the recipient of the Antoine M. Gaudin Award (1982), the Robert H. Richards Award (l987), the Arthur F. Taggart Award for best paper (1987) of AIME, "Most Distinguished Achievement in Engineering" award from AINA among others. In addition, he was awarded the "Ellis Island Medal of Honor" in 1990, along with such recipients as President George Bush, four former Presidents, U.N. Ambassador Thomas Pickering and Danny Thomas, the Leadership citation from the New Jersey Senate in 1991 and the Engineering Foundation's 1992 Frank F. Aplan Award. He has been honored in many countries. He was appointed as an Honorary Professor at the Central University of Technology of China, 1988-1993, and an Honorary Research Advisor at the Beijing Research Institute of Mining & Metallurgy, Beijing, China, in 1991 and a Plenary Lecturer at many International conferences. He is the author/editor of fifteen books and of over 700 scientific publications and patents. He is the honorary editor-in-chief of the international journal "Colloids and Surfaces". He has served on many international, national and professional committees and National Research Council and University external panels and National Science Foundation Advisory Committees. He was the Chairman of the Board of the Engineering Foundation (1993-95) and currently on the board of the new United Engineering Foundation. He currently serves on the Piermont Board of Appeals and previously in the Planning board.. His research interests are surface and colloid chemistry of minerals, materials and microbes, molecular interactions at surfaces using advanced spectroscopy, polymer and surfactant adsorption, flocculation/dispersion, biosurface phenomena, environmental engineering (waste treatment), enhanced recovery of oil and coal cleaning.

Dr. Md. K. Nazeeruddin received M.Sc. and Ph. D. in inorganic chemistry from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. He joined as a Lecturer in Deccan College of Engineering and Technology, Osmania University in 1986, and subsequently, moved to Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar, as a Research Associate. He was awarded the Government of India’s fellowship in 1987 for study abroad. After one year postdoctoral stay with Prof. Graetzel at Swiss federal institute of technology Lausanne (E P F L), he joined the same institute as a Senior Scientist. His current research focuses on Dye-sensitized solar cells, Hydrogen production, Light-emitting diodes and Chemical sensors. He has published more than 420 peer-reviewed papers, ten book chapters, and inventor of 40 patents. The high impact of his work has been recognized with invitations to speak at over 80 international conferences, including the MRS Fall (USA, 2006) and Spring 2011 Meetings, GORDON conference (2014), and has been nominated to the OLLA International Scientific Advisory Board. He appeared in the ISI listing of most cited chemists, and has more than 33'500 citations with an h-index of 93. He is teaching "Functional Materials" course at EPFL, and Korea University; directing, and managing several industrial, national, and European Union projects on Hydrogen energy, Photovoltaics (DSC), and Organic Light Emitting Diodes. Dr Zhou is presently a Professor, Associate Vice President of Global Medical Development, Associate Dean of International Research, and Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy & Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida 33612. Professor Zhou completed his clinical medical training in China in 1989 and obtained his PhD in 2001 from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand. He continued his postdoctoral training at the University of Auckland until November 2002. Since 2002, Dr Zhou has served as a faculty member for the National University of Singapore, Queensland University of Technology (Australia), RMIT University (Australia), and now University of South Florida. Dr Zhou’s major research interests are drug discovery/systems pharmacology, drug metabolism/drug transport & pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics/pharmacogenetics, nanomedicine and Chinese medicine. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Khayet Souhaimi is an expert on membrane science and technology (membrane design and fabrication, membrane processes including nanofiltration, emerging technologies) and water treatment (desalination, wastewater treatment, etc.). He has contributed a substantial number of articles (over 100 papers since 2000) on the subject of membrane science and technology to various international refereed journals, including among others, Journal of Membrane Science and Desalination (with an H-index 27 and 2223 Sum of Times Cited in Journal of Citation Reports, JCR, Web of Knowledge). He has filed 3 International Patents on the fabrication of polymeric membranes for water treatment. Recently, he has published 2 books: “Membrane Distillation: Principles and Applications", Elsevier (2011)” and “Membrane Modification: Technology and Applications", CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group (2012) with special interests in developing antifouling nanofiltration membranes and reduction of membrane fouling by polymer surface modification. He has coordinated various national and international projects funded by different institutions (European Union, Spanish Ministry of External Affaires, Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, Middle East Desalination Research Center (MEDRC), Abengoa Water, etc.). He has supervised several research studies (9 Ph.D. thesis, 25 master thesis and undergraduate students). Dr Teng is an Associate Professor and leads the Nanoelectronics Research Group at the College of Engineering in Swansea University. His research interest is in the study of nanoscale electronic materials and devices. This involves the application of nanotechnology in electronics, which has major impact in healthcare, computer, photonic and energy technologies. His research includes the investigation of low-dimensional electronic materials, such as graphene, metal-oxide and nitride nanostructures etc., in the development of ultra-sensitive nano-biosensors for the early detection of diseases, short-wavelength lasers for ultra-high density data storage and nano-plasmonics for photovoltaic technology etc. Dr Teng has the expertise in the fabrication and characterisation of nanoscale electronic materials and devices, as well as controlling their properties through surface engineering for novel applications.

Ramesh K. Agarwal is the William Palm Professor of Engineering and the director of Aerospace Research and Education Center at Washington University in St. Louis. From 1994 to 2001, he was the Sam Bloomfield Distinguished Professor and Executive Director of the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University in Kansas. From 1978 to 1994, he worked in various scientific and managerial positions at McDonnell Douglas Research Laboratories in St. Louis. He became the Program Director and McDonnell Douglas Fellow in 1990. Dr. Agarwal received Ph.D. in Aeronautical Sciences from Stanford University in 1975, M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1969 and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India in 1968. Over a period of 35+ years, Professor Agarwal has worked in various areas of Computational Science and Engineering - Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Computational Materials Science, Computational Electromagnetics (CEM), and Multidisciplinary Design and Optimization. He is the author and coauthor of over 400 publications. He has also worked in Nanotechnology and Renewable Energy, in particular in nanoparticles properties, synthesis, and their applications in drug delivery and their health effects, and energetic materials for solar energy applications. He has given many plenary, keynote and invited lectures at various national and international conferences worldwide. Professor Agarwal continues to serve on many academic, government, and industrial advisory committees. Dr. Agarwal is a Fellow sixteen societies including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), American Physical Society (APS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Royal Aeronautical Society and American society for Engineering Education (ASEE). He has received many prestigious honors and national/international awards from various professional societies and organizations for his research contributions.

Ljubimova is a Professor and Director of Nanomedicine Research Center at the Department of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She works in clinical and basic cancer research in her entire career. The major interest is the differential cancer gene expression as a tool for finding novel/early markers of cancer development, and for working out new nanomedicine drugs against these tumor targets for treatment and/or imaging. One of the novel markers, the structural tumor vessel wall protein laminin-411, is currently in a clinical trial as a prognostic and diagnostic marker for human glial tumor progression. These discoveries led to the development of new technologies for drug delivery and engineering of the new class of anti-cancer nanomedicine drugs. Currently her research is supported by three NIH/NCI, private and industry grants. She is the author of over 70 publications, reviews and book chapters as well as an inventor on nine patents and patent applications.

Primary research interests involve methods to block human glioma growth, brain tumor prevention treatments and the effects of air pollution on the brain.
